For over 15 years, Godwin has been painting, drawing and making prints all the time he was teaching, but hesitated to approach a commercial gallery. Godwin is now becoming recognised as one of Australia’s most accomplished painters. He is able to produce entrancing images that are not overloaded with weighty meaning but highlight the evocative pleasures and joy of a wistful paint-loaded brush, in his studio on an outcrop of bushland on the New South Wales central coast. Having his first solo show in 2002, Godwin has most his shows sold out ever since. His works are now in high demand, which is a deserved reward for a dedicated painter who is at the top of his game.
